PEAK (Practical Energy and Advanced Knowledge – Buildings) new program coming soon!
This program, developed from an initial BC Housing grant and streamlined and evolved from the successful BERM (Building Energy and Resource Management) certificate program will be hosting an information session on Wednesday, March 21 at Douglas College in New Westminster.
Practical Energy and Advanced Knowledge for Buildings (PEAK/Buildings) is an updating and streamlining of the BERM program.
The program is part-time. The time commitment for each course will be 30 – 40 hours over a six-week period for each course.
Here are some answers to commonly asked questions:
· Admission to the program usually follows from an in-person or phone meeting with the prospective student. There are no pre-requisites; we simply make an effort to make sure the program or course is a good fit with the student’s needs. Successful students have included those with technical, construction, or business backgrounds and personal interest.
· Students who successfully complete the PEAK – Buildings program are awarded a professional development/continuing education certificate from Douglas College.
· The format of the program is as follows: The initial course is online (interactive, self-paced, instructor contact by email, video conference and website); The five core courses are all hybrid: partially online, on campus every other week at the New Westminster campus.
· The student has to be legally in Canada. Because it is a part-time, continuing education program, it does not usually qualify for a student visa.
