Advanced Knowledge of Buildings

The term Advanced Knowledge refers to known and emerging strategies and technologies that can directly go toward solving some of our most pressing issues with buildings and building use. The practical application of our knowledge includes managing a collaborative effort to accomplish desired goals by using energy and resources effectively. Management involves planning, organizational and leadership skills. We can also think of management as responsible stewardship of many elements in the building: human resources and energy, financial resources, technological resources and natural resources and energy. Resources we define as  that which is needed in order for a system to function. Living systems need resources, and for our purposes here, we can state that building systems need resources. Building-based system resources include capital, energy sources, water, sunlight, fresh air and access to modes of transportation.
